Sally Mann b.1951
Born and raised in Virginia, Mann takes influences from the things that she loves most, in the place she loves most that being at home with her family. First made famous in the 1980's by a controversial collection of images taken of her young children she continues to challenge her audience with new work such as "Proud Flesh" a collection of images she made at a Body Farm. Mann chooses to practice the traditional methods of photography that of glass plate printing. Celebrating the imperfections in her work referring to the scratches and damage as "the angel of chance" ensuring that no matter what she captures it continues to hold a romantic and ageless quality.
